Terms and Conditions

Confidentiality

Full confidentiality is offered, in line with psychotherapy ethical practice. This practice is bound by the Ethical Framework of National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) as well as the Code of Ethics of Association of Coaching. As part of this registration, regular clinical supervision is mandatory for the therapist. All work carried out with YouMe Therapy or any of its therapists will be discussed with a clinical supervisor in confidence.

Everything said in sessions is confidential and any notes kept will be anonymised. Sessions will not be discussed with anyone apart from in confidential clinical supervision. The exceptions to confidentiality are as follows:

– If the client speaks of an intention to harm themselves or others

– If the client shares information about an intended act of terrorism

– If there is concern regarding a child or vulnerable person in the client’s contact or care

– If the UK courts instruct the therapist to give information regarding the client

Sessions

Weekly sessions will last for 50 minutes, online and will be discussed with client to identify best platform depending on their knowledge, by telephone or in-person, at the same time, as much as possible. If technical issues occur whilst via online working, the session will be completed by telephone.

If working remotely, sessions must be held when the client is alone in a quiet place where they will not be overheard. The session will be paused or terminated if it is determined that the client is not alone. In this event, the time remaining will be lost and the client will not be refunded.

If working in-person, please note that other professionals carry out their own work in their offices, within the building where YouMe Therapy is located or via Walk and Talk therapy where this has been previously booked and planned. The duration of work will be discussed during intake and will be reviewed periodically.

If the client attends therapy under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any other substance at the start or during the meeting, the session will be terminated, fees not refunded, and therapy will commence the week after.

All session notes will be anonymised by the therapist, and stored securely. Client data and anonymised notes may be stored for up to 7 years. Client names and general information may remain on email servers.

Efficacy

The effectiveness of the therapy is dependent on individual client’s engagement, and their responses and collaboration and wanting to change are key elements to the process.

Late arrival

If session begins late due to clients responsibility it may not be able to be extended beyond the finish time.

Method of Payment:

Each appointment is paid 48 hours in advance, this will be discussed with clients and several methods are available to meet clients needs.

Record Keeping

The service offered is confidential and notes kept do not identify clients. NCPS guidelines are always followed, as is best practice. Electronic information is kept on file containing your contact details, and any medical information collected and session notes from each visit are kept separate and all information conform to GDPR and ICO regulations.

Referral

Our work together may successfully highlight the need to refer to other professionals in different fields or a specialist therapist and this is carried out in agreement and in collaboration.

Cancellations

We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, and plans change. To ensure fairness and maintain a smooth scheduling process, we kindly request that you notify us cancellations at least 48 hours in advance of your appointment time. By doing so, we can offer the time slot to another client in need. Please note that cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice will incur a charge for the missed session. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter.

Endings

Therapy ends for many different reasons. Although not always possible we aim that a 2-session notice is required, where possible, to enable the relationship to close safely.

Contact outside sessions and emergencies:

Any contact by text, phone or email is permissible for administrative purposes only (appointment bookings & changes, venue changes, connection issues and payments). Contact outside this will not be acknowledged.

The therapist will not acknowledge the client in the event of an accidental meeting outside the therapy room but will respond civilly to acknowledgment if one is offered.

The therapists at YouMe Therapy cannot be called on in an emergency. If a client is at risk to themselves or someone else, or if they need to speak to someone urgently, there are several agencies to contact including Samaritans 116123, their GP, SHOUT 85258, CALM 0800 585858 or NHS 111. In case of emergency, they are to ring 999. If the subject seems urgent but not an emergency, an appointment is not guaranteed until the next pre-arranged session.

For any clarification on the above, please email info@youmetherapy.co.uk

Review of fees

Fees are reviewed once per year and if changes are deemed necessary each client will be given at least 2 months’ notice before they take effect.

Therapy Offered

All therapeutic interventions are offered within the professional knowledge of the therapist. Where therapy is deemed inappropriate, this will be discussed with the client and alternative suggestions will be offered.
